英国留学生签证是什么签证？
目前英国的Tier 4学生签证已经与以前的PSW工作签证一起被取消，取而代之的是新的学生签证和毕业生计划(Graduate routes)。新的Tier 4 student visa是2016年7月6日生效的移民新政的一部分，由原来的strict conditions条件类签证改为general student route普通学生签证（之前叫standard student route标准学生签证）。
新学生签分为两种：
1.一般学生路线General Student Route (formerly Tier 4 (General)) for those under the age of 18 on a course lasting less than 2 years， or over 18 on any course; this is for people studying in the UK with a sponsor. This type requires strict compliance to your sponsors terms and conditions， as well as certain other restrictions depending on whether you are a child or adult.
2.儿童学生路线Child Student Route also known as Child Tier 4. For children aged between four at time of application and must be attending an accredited school， nursery etc. The conditions for this route have been relaxed slightly.
现在申请的一般都是普通的student route visa， 而以前申请的strictly condition类型的学生签证则被统一叫做old-style T4 visa。
一般来说，如果你所读的课程时间不满9个月，你的学生签证就是general route；如果你的课程超过9个月以上，则是child route。不过，如果是未满18岁的话不管上什么课都只能走普通路线上general route，因为根据英国法律未成年人不能单独住酒店或者公寓！ 如果您打算在英国学习以下这些课程，那么您只能选择“儿童学生路线” 儿童学生路线只适用于以下几种情况： * 4周岁或以上的国际学生到英国就读为期3周至2年的学前班、幼儿园或小学课程； * 在英国就读中学，须同时符合以下条件者： 未满18岁， 就读的中学必须是经授权认可的学校所开设的专门中学课程及至少满5年历史，并且是由英国内政部正式指定的寄宿学校或是政府出资开办的公学，以及学校的所有科目都是英语授课。
需要注意的是，儿童学生路线和普通学生路线一样，都需要由UKBA认可的担保机构进行担保，才能申请。而这类认证担保机构的名单会在每年更新一次，最新的信息可以在UK Border Agency的网站上查到：
最后值得一提的是，对于持有旧版学生签证(Old Style T4 Visa)的人，如果签证到期后需要继续停留在英国，他们必须要在过期的1个月内离开该国返回中国再重新办理新版本的学生签证(New Style T4 Visa)才可以，否则就会被视为非法居留！
